Every point on a circle is the same distance from its centre.

The radius joins the centre to the circle. The diameter is twice the radius.

A chord joins two points on the circle. The diameter is the longest chord.

A tangent touches the circle at just one point.

The distance around a circle is its circumference. It is two times pi times the radius.

The area of a circle is pi times the radius squared.

Pi is a little more than three. We often take it as twenty-two by seven.
