Light, shadows and reflections · प्रकाश, छाया और परावर्तन
A free Physics lesson for Class 6 children.
We see things when light from them enters our eyes. The Sun, a candle and a bulb give out their own light.
Transparent things like glass let light pass through. Opaque things like wood block it. Translucent things like butter paper let only some light through.
When an opaque object blocks light, a shadow forms on the other side. A shadow needs a source of light, an object and a screen.
Light travels in straight lines. That is why a pinhole camera makes an upside-down picture.
A mirror sends light back. This is called reflection, and it is why you can see yourself in a mirror.
