Plants with soft green stems are herbs. Shrubs are bushy with hard stems branching near the ground. Trees are tall with one thick trunk.
The stem carries water up from the roots and food down from the leaves.
A leaf has a stalk, a blade and veins. Leaves make food by photosynthesis and lose water by transpiration.
Leaves with net-like veins belong to plants with tap roots. Leaves with parallel veins belong to plants with fibrous roots.
A flower has sepals, petals, stamens and a pistil. The stamen is the male part and the pistil is the female part.
