The Earth: day, night and seasons · पृथ्वी: दिन, रात और ऋतुएँ

A free Physics lesson for Class 4 children.

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun.

The Earth spins like a top. This spinning is called rotation.

One rotation takes 24 hours. It gives us day and night.

The side facing the Sun has day. The other side has night.

The Earth also goes around the Sun. This is called revolution.

One revolution takes 365 and a quarter days. That is one year.

The Earth is tilted. This tilt and the revolution give us the seasons.

In an eclipse, the Sun, the Earth and the Moon come in one straight line.
